Court Docket Case Types

Criminal felony dockets in Navajo County include cases for drug offenses, theft, burglary, assault, fraud, weapons violations, and DUI with aggravating factors. The docket shows the defendant's name, specific charges filed, the assigned prosecutor and defense attorney, all court appearance dates, plea negotiations, trial proceedings, and final sentencing. Each docket entry is dated and describes what action occurred, creating a timeline of the case from initial filing through final judgment.

Civil court dockets cover lawsuits between parties over money or property. Personal injury claims, contract disputes, real estate disagreements, business litigation, and foreclosure actions all appear in civil dockets. The docket lists the plaintiff who filed the suit, the defendant being sued, the amount claimed, when the complaint was served, the defendant's response, all motions and hearings, and the final judgment or settlement. You can track the progress of a civil case by reviewing the docket to see what stage it has reached.

Family law dockets include divorce, legal separation, child custody, child support, paternity, and protective order cases. The docket identifies both parties, shows the filing date, lists temporary order hearings, records mediation sessions, notes trial dates if the case is contested, and documents final decrees or orders. Some family law information may be confidential to protect children, but the basic docket showing case status and hearing schedules is generally public. This allows parties and attorneys to track when court appearances are required and what orders have been issued.

Probate dockets show estates of deceased persons, guardianships for minors or incapacitated adults, and conservatorships for managing finances. The docket lists the decedent or protected person, the personal representative or guardian appointed, claims filed against the estate, asset inventories, and distribution orders. These cases often span many months or even years, and the docket provides a complete record of all court actions and supervision throughout the process.

Not all court records are available to the public. Juvenile delinquency cases are confidential under Arizona law and do not appear in public docket searches. Mental health proceedings are sealed. Adoption records are restricted. When a case has been sealed by court order, it will not show up in any search even if you know the case number. These restrictions protect privacy in sensitive matters involving children and mental health issues.
